What is the difference between partial and complete service?
A “partial” service consists mainly in a battery replacement for quartz watches or an adjustement of the rate for mechanical watches. In addition, the replacement of spare parts guaranteeing the water resistance are also included in this service. A service becomes “complete” when interventions on the movements turn out to be necessary (replacement of worn components and oils). All operations of the partial service are also included in the complete service.
How long does a watch battery last?
A battery should last at least 30 months, depending on the type of watch, its size, and the energy required to power its various functions. A chronograph, for example, requires more energy than a watch that only displays hours and minutes. When the battery no longer works it should be removed or exchanged by an certified Rado Service Center
Why should the batteries be changed at a Rado service center?
Rado recommends that you take your watch to an certified Rado Service Center where the water resistance is tested when replacing the battery to ensure that your watch is properly sealed. Rado recommends replacing the gaskets and, if necessary, the crown every time the battery is replaced to ensure the water resistance of the watch.
“I would highly recommend mail-in watch repair. I sent in the information regarding my watches via email that needed service on a Sunday and received a phone call from Mr. Polotsky within a half hour!!! They paid for shipping both ways, have a 2 yr warranty on their work, and did the repairs in the time frame that was quoted to me. The watches look great, and they sent me emails frequently to keep me updated on the status of my repairs. Mr. Polotsky also phoned me again to be certain I was pleased with his service!”

OMEGA Certified Watchmaker | CW21 & OWME 1120
Polotsky began the artisan craft of watchmaking at the age of 17 when an esteemed watchmaker in Russia mentored him. For five years, he worked in Poljet, Moscow’s first watch factory, before being hired by Omega. In 1989, he was recruited by Tiffany’s in Manhattan, NY, and moved to the United States.
For 39 years, Mr. Polotsky has honed his watchmaker skills by operating in some of the tiniest of environments as a micro mechanic. Clients specifically choose him for his expertise in modern horology.
Regardless of all the tools at his disposal, Mr. Polotsky says that the most crucial element of the process is “patience – and lots of it.” And patience is essential not only for the craft but for the experience itself.
Behind the Certification
If you’re spending several thousand dollars or more on a luxury watch, it’s essential that you have the confidence that your investment will get superior care that’s been vetted. Igor Polotsky is a CW21 (Certified Watchmaker of the 21st Century) and possesses an OWME ((Omega Watch Maker Evaluation) 1120 from Omega. The certifications, one of several that he maintains, are valuable assets that require a very high level of artistry to work on the world’s finest timepieces.
The certifications take countless hours of coursework to earn qualification and to be approved as a post-sale service provider for specific brands such as Omega.
The certification processes are not just exams to assess ability but also include thesis work, projects, and repair examples on the most high-quality timepieces available. In addition to certification and experience, Polotsky cites one other element for his success – passion.
